It will be on a limited scale, but here is some good news: Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel in Charenton has announced its plan for a phased reopening!

Now that the stay-at-home order has been lifted and restrictions have eased, people are itching to go out and help the economy get moving again.

Richard Picard, Director of Public Relations & Advertising at Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel, released a statement today announcing the casino's plan to reopen their doors to the public on Tuesday, May 19, at 10 am.

Picard outlined the protocols to which the casino will adhere during the first phase of their reopening, including changes to the gaming floor plan to encourage social distancing, capacity limitations, limited restaurant offerings, and hours of operation.

The casino will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. with changes made to the gaming floor to encourage social distancing and limited restaurant offerings. Hotel, bingo, valet, banquet, and other restaurant operations are all suspended until further notice. - Richard Picard, Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel

Any activities that "encourage gatherings" have been suspended, including entertainment, promotions, and events.

Changes to protocol will include limiting entrance to the facility to one area where guests will be asked to submit to a temperature check and be provided with disposable masks and gloves. Guests will not be required to wear them, but the masks are 'highly encouraged". All team members will also be screened prior to entering the property.

“We are excited to welcome our guests and team members back safely to the property. While there are significant changes to our operations at this time, we have taken measures to ensure that our guests will still enjoy the high level of service that they have grown accustomed to in a fun, friendly, and safe environment." - Mike Howard, General Manager and CEO

Picard goes on to say that the casino/hotel has installed hand sanitizing stations, implemented enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and is training all team members on the new protocols. The casino/hotel will continue to closely monitor the recommendations of local, state, and federal health care professionals.

Casino promotions, entertainment, and events that encourage gatherings will also be suspended until further notice.
