Detectives Seek Suspect in Armed Robbery

Lafayette Police are working to find the man responsible for stealing a man's truck last night around 6 o'clock in the 300 block of Birch Drive.

The victim told police that the suspect walked over to him to ask him for a cigarette.  The suspect then pulled out a handgun and demanded the key's the man's truck.

The suspect took off in the white 2003 white Ford F-150 2-door extended cap pickup truck.  The license plate bears the tag : B773696.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, was not hurt during the incident, but did provide a description of the suspect.

The suspect was described as being a short, stocky black male wearing a light blue jacket with a hood.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime, or anyone that might see the vehicle, to call them or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
