For Eat Lafayette this year, I got the chance to go to the Blue Dog Cafe.

I had never been there before but had heard nothing but great things about the restaurant so I was excited when I learned that I was assigned to cover them.

As you can see in the photo above, the restaurant is unique. The paintings, done by world renowned artist George Rodrigue from New Iberia, were absolutely beautiful! His paintings give the restaurant something gorgeous to look at as you are enjoying their delicious food.

Speaking of their delicious, award-winning food, I decided to start off with the Corn & Crab Bisque. I love bisque and they certainly did not disappoint! For my main course, I got the Crawfish Enchiladas, which were excellent! Certainly something you can’t get just anywhere! And for dessert, it was a hard decision between the Homeade Cheesecake, Pecan Pie and the Bread Pudding with Pecan Praline Sauce, but I went with the Bread Pudding because I love to try bread pudding from different restaurants, and again, they did not disappoint!

If you have not been to Blue Dog Café, then I definitely recommend that you go there next time you decide to eat out. Not only is the food and scenery wonderful, but the service was very good as well! That was definitely something that stood out to me as well! I found out at the end of my meal that our server did not even know that I was with Newstalk 96.5 KPEL and Eat Lafayette, yet me and KPEL Reporter Nathan Pike were treated incredibly well by him! That really impressed me because you don’t find service like that everywhere!

And, I can’t forget to mention their Sunday Brunch! Their customers wouldn’t let me forget as multiple people told me that next time I go back to the Blue Dog Café, it needs to be for Sunday brunch! I think I will have to take them up on their offer!
