Friday, Eunice Police responded to a burglary at Babineaux Concrete on 12th street. Items taken included a safe containing $20,000 in cash, an AK-47 rifle and an AR-15 rifle. Investigators learned that 48 year old John Turner had recently been fired from Babineaux Concrete.

When detectives went to Turner's home on 7th Street in Mamou and knocked on the door they saw two men running out the back door. After a foot chase John Turner and 43 year old Jimmy Coker of Mamou were taken into custody. Turner and Coker confessed to taking the safe into rural Evangeline Parish where they cut it open with a torch. The safe was found in a gully.

Bond was set at $55,000 both men.
