LAFAYETTE, La. — Former Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope is back behind bars. According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pope, 60, was arrested on an active warrant for a probation and parole violation.

News 15 and KLFY News 10 reported the arrest, which was confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say Pope was taken into custody after failing to appear for a scheduled revocation hearing—an appearance required under the terms of his parole.

The exact circumstances leading up to this latest violation are still unfolding, but court records indicate a warrant was issued following Pope’s missed hearing. It remains unclear at this time whether additional charges or consequences will follow.

Pope’s legal troubles have spanned several years. He was previously sentenced to prison in 2020 and 2021 after being convicted on multiple counts of malfeasance in office.

This is a developing story. You can follow ongoing updates and read the full report from News 15 here.

More details will be released as they become available.
