Local communities across the state of Louisiana are mourning the loss of the 14 people who lost their lives in New Orleans early New Year's Day.

While this is a truly heartbreaking time for our state, we won't let it divide us or scare us into hiding. Instead our communities are healing and using this as a time to honor the memories of the loves ones lost in the attack.

Louisiana will never forget the 14 innocent lives lost and the horrific scenes of January 1. However, Louisiana and her people will never cower in fear. Instead, we will unite and come back stronger in honor of every person who lost their lives that day

Louisiana Governor, Jeff Landry, has declared a period of mourning for all of the victims of the tragic New Orleans terror attack giving each person a day dedicated to them specifically.

All flags over state buildings will be flown at half-staff to honor the innocent lives lost on Janurary 1st. Landry is encouraging all political subdivisions, private entities, and educational institutions, including public, private, and parochial, and post-secondary institutions to lower both the United States and Louisiana state flags.

  • Friday, January 10, 2025: In remembrance of William “Billy” DiMaio
  • Monday, January 13, 2025: In remembrance of Hubert Gauthreaux
  • Tuesday, January 14, 2025: In remembrance of Reggie Hunter
  • Wednesday, January 15, 2025: In remembrance of Nicole Perez
  • Thursday, January 16, 2025: In remembrance of Terrance “Terry” Kennedy
  • Friday, January 17, 2025: In remembrance of Matthew Tenedorio

Louisiana Residents Advised to NOT Travel to These 9 Places

The United States Department of State regularly issues travel advisories for Americans to help keep them safe during their vacations. There are four levels of advisories: exercise normal precautions, exercise increased caution, reconsider travel and do not travel. These are nine of the 19 destinations under a Level 4: DO NOT TRAVEL advisory.
