
Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Emergency Vehicles
Scott Police have arrested a less-than-observant driver who disobeyed police commands further complicating the scene of an accident.
Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said Darico Stevens was driving the wrong way on a one-way street near where police were conducting a crash investigation.
Police instructed Stevens to turn around. He put the vehicle in reverse striking a fire rescue truck. The suspect continued to accelerate in reverse striking yet another fire department vehicle.
During the investigation, a stolen handgun was found in the vehicle.
Stevens was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on the following charges:
- Driving the wrong way on a one-way street
- Hit and Run
- Flight from an officer
Stevens had three juvenile passengers in his vehicle during the incident.
