Republican Jeff Landry is the La. Attorney General-elect after being voted in by a 57% to 43% margin over incumbent Republican Buddy Caldwell.

As the runoff took shape, Landry was able to garner support from numerous democrats, picking up the endorsement from Geri Broussard Baloney, the leading Democrat vote-getter in the primary election.

Here is Landry’s statement following his electoral victory on Saturday night:

I want to thank God, my family, and my friends. I want everyone to recognize that this effort was a bi-partisan effort because good, effective government belongs to everyone. I want to especially thank Geri Broussard Baloney, who endorsed our campaign and supported our effort. This election was about bringing honesty, integrity, and a new attitude to the Attorney General's office. Justice should not be based on who you are, what part of the state you are from, your gender, your age, your political party, or your race. As Louisiana’s next Attorney General, I will treat everybody fairly and equally so all citizens can develop trust that their government is there to work for them, not against them.
