I can't begin to imagine the horrors experienced & witnessed by veterans of foreign wars. Thousands of people who've returned from war didn't come back whole. They struggle with psychological disorders, alcoholism & addiction. The Department of Housing & Urban Development estimates 40,000 American veterans are homeless. Something is being done about it in Kansas City. 12 Tomatoes reports, a town of free housing for homeless veterans. The Veterans Community Project has spent 2 years planning and building the community. Residents will have access to remedial training in basic life skills. There are only 13 homes at present, a combination of family and single residences. Plans are underway for a second phase with additional homes.
