We are sad to make this announcement, but your safety is our main concern."
Earlier today (4/3/25) The Lafayette Mardi Gras Association announced the rescheduling of 2 of Lafayette's Mardi Gras day parades, and the cancellation of the day's third parade, The Independent Parade.
The King's Parade will now roll early, starting at 9 am with the Lafayette Mardi Gras Festival Parade scheduled to roll immediately after at 10 am.
Le Festival de Mardi Gras a Lafayette is one of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana outside of New Orleans. Held annually at Cajun Field, the festival blends the excitement of traditional Mardi Gras parades with a fun carnival atmosphere.
However, all Mardi Gras hope is not yet lost!
Tonight, The Queen's Parade is set to roll as normal starting at 6 pm at the intersection of Jefferson and Simcoe and ending up at Cajun Feild around 9:30 pm.
Le Festival de Mardi Gras a Lafayette will also continue as planned tonight with live music from Ory Veillon Music, Coteau Grove, and Wayne Toups.
