Lafayette Man Claims the Record for Biggest Snow Angel in Louisiana
The rare snowstorm blanketing Lafayette and much of South Louisiana has kept many residents indoors, but for DJ Big Sam, it was an opportunity to cement his iced-out legacy. Armed with determination, a sense of humor, and a green ensemble, DJ Big Sam ventured into his snow-covered yard to (unofficially) claim the title of the Biggest Snow Angel in Louisiana.
With over four inches of snow (so far) piling up in Lafayette—and more in some areas—residents have been embracing the snow day with sleds, snowball fights, and, of course, snow angels. But DJ Big Sam wasn’t content to just join the fun; he went big—literally.
“I remember seeing snow when I was younger in Lafayette, but nothing like this,” DJ Big Sam shared. “My kids were watching and laughing, saying, ‘Daddy is crazy!’ But we all got out there to enjoy the view and play in the snow. I’d never made a snow angel before, so I figured, why not?”
With his trademark over-the-top antics, DJ Big Sam’s snow angel has become the talk of his neighborhood and his social media followers, who are used to his fun-loving content. “To my followers—they already know I’m a little extra,” he laughed.
When asked about the cold, he didn’t hesitate: “It was super cold, but would I do it again? Absolutely! Next up, I’m thinking about making a big fat snowman!”
As the snow continues to fall and residents savor this super rare Louisiana winter wonderland, DJ Big Sam has shown us all that sometimes the best way to deal with an unusual situation is to dive in, literally, and make memories—snow angels included.
Now the question remains: Is DJ Big Sam’s angel truly the biggest? The largest? Either way, it’s definitely one of the most memorable on this historic Sneaux Day!
