Between the months of August and November of this year, Lafayette Police officers have been working to track down the person responsible for several burglaries at construction sites in the Lafayette area.

Detectives out working on the case, saw a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect's car, and they proceeded to buy the man over.

Officers says that 27-year-old Joseph Zapata was questioned, and he ended up confessing to burglarizing multiple construction sites in Lafayette.

Police will also be working to determine if this man from Florida is also responsible for other construction site burglaries that happened in surrounding areas.

More charges in this case are expected.

Zapata was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on five counts of simple burglary.
