The Lafayette Police Department is searching for the man who was seen on a home security camera taking a package that was left at the front door of a residence.

According to News 15, the package was stolen from a home in a Lafayette neighborhood near Don's Seafood on Johnston Street.

The man is seen walking up to the door of the home, picking up the package, and then running from the home towards an awaiting car.

If you recognize the thief that you will see in the video below, you are asked to contact the Lafayette Police Dept. at (337) 291-8600.

We want to take a second to remind you that thieves are looking for packages left at your front door and there are ways to protect what you've bought this holiday season.

For one, you can have your packages delivered to your workplace so that they aren't just left in clear sight at your front door, or you can direct the delivery person to place your packages out of sight.

If the delivery service coming to your home has access to the back of your home, you may choose to have them leave them behind your home, rather than at the front door.

Sadly, we have to do this for the holiday season, but it's the world we're in and we don't want to become a victim this year.
