
Lafayette Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend in His Sleep
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL-FM) - A Lafayette woman has been arrested and is facing charges after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend while he was sleeping.

21-year-old Lafayette woman Lataviea O’Neil has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in his sleep.
According to KLFY, officers responded to a complaint about a stabbing at approximately 12:45 a.m. Wednesday (10/8/25) at the 200 block of Ile Des Cannes Road in Lafayette.
The alleged victim told authorities that when he woke to find his girlfriend standing over him with a knife from the kitchen.

The suspect thrust the knife downward toward the victim’s neck, authorities said. The victim said he managed to grab the blade of the knife, redirecting the thrust and narrowly avoid injury.

The alleged victim then quickly fled to the bathroom and called 911 after locking the door.
After the scene was secured, the man was taken to the hospital and treated for several defensive wounds and cuts on his fingers, inner palm, and inner thumb.
O'Neil was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish jail, where she is being held on a $50,000 bond.
At this time, if found guilty, it's not certain what sort of penalties O'Neil is facing.
