LAFAYETTE, La. -- For years Southside Bakery served as a popular destination spot for those wanting to try one of Acadiana's most well-regarded burgers. A legal dispute between twins Billy and Denny Guilbeau and their father, though, forced the closure of that restaurant.

Now months later, the twins are back at it again, celebrating the grand opening of their new restaurant, Twin's Burgers and Sweets on the corner of Johnston Street and South College Road.

"Business is going pretty well," Billy Guilbeau said, the general manager of the new restaurant. "We just had a very very busy lunch time, and we're getting good support from the community."

The menu has been "personalized," Guilbeau said. The Twin Burger, the new signature burger, features two smaller patties as opposed to the big slice at Southside. A kid's burger, Guilbeau said, is "great for children in the community," and features one single quarter-pound patty.

Other additions to the menu include hot dogs and chili dogs, as well as "simple and sweet" desserts.

"We're open for lunch and dinner," Guilbeau said. "It's a nice place to where you can come with your family and enjoy."
