It might surprise people that Season 17 American Idol winner Laine Hardy is still not old enough to drink. But the Livingston Parish native IS old enough to represent his home state of Louisiana as our new tourism ambassador.

On Wednesday, Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and Governor John Bel Edwards named Hardy as the new Louisiana Ambassador for the Office of Tourism's new ad campaign. The ceremony was held at Capitol Park Museum in downtown Baton Rouge, and Hardy performed his new song, "Other LA," for the audience at the National Travel and Tourism Week event at the Louisiana Legislature. He will be the face of the Office of Tourism's new advertising campaign, and will proudly represent the brand while our state is trying to regroup from the COVID-19 crisis.

Hardy is headed out on tour on May 14th, and will open the show for Toby Keith on several dates this summer. And according to the Advocate, he says "We're just getting ready, practicing, finding out what our route's gonna be. I just got back from Michigan like two days ago. My shows are at theaters, festivals, fairs and stuff." The aspiring country music singer has been busy building a home studio in Livingston, and traveling back and forth to Nashville. We have no doubt that Laine Hardy is going to do a fantastic job representing his beloved home state of Louisiana along the way.
