Over the past year, we have all learned more about the coronavirus than I think any of us really wanted to know. We've also learned more about handwashing and face mask-wearing and social distancing too. Now, that there is a vaccine for the coronavirus, many of us have questions about that too.

Hopefully, your questions will be answered during a live virtual town hall-style meeting presented by the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). That town hall is scheduled to begin a 1 this afternoon, just hours ahead of a press conference with Governor John Bel Edwards.

In the 3 pm press conference Edwards is expected to announce that Pennington Biomedical Research Center will become the state's first mass vaccination site. During that press conference, Governor Edwards is also expected to take his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The virtual town hall meeting will be held over the Zoom format online. The purpose of the event is to answer your questions and concerns and calm your fears about the coronavirus vaccine. The meeting should also help put to bed the many myths and untruths that have been spoken about the disease and the vaccines that have been created to mitigate it.

You may use this link to register for today's virtual town hall. Registration is free and the town hall is open to anyone who has questions about the vaccines and wants to learn more. If you're unable to attend the virtual town hall a replay of today's proceedings will be available following its conclusion. You can access that replay via this link.
