Louisiana Domestic Violence Shelters Get Major Retail Donation
We are all looking for ways to help our communities, especially this year during the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. As the holidays are approaching, it's nice to know that a major retailer is reaching out to help some of our most vulnerable citizens
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has announced a major donation to domestic violence shelters in our state from worldwide clothing retailers Lularoe. LuLaRoe was founded in 2012 by Deanne Brady and her husband Mark Stidham, and they are currently based in Corona, California They market themselves as 'Creating Freedom Through Fashion".
Attorney General Landry worked on an initiative in conjunction with Domestic Violence Month, which was in October. His office worked with LuLaroe to garner 5,000 pieces of clothing for donations to shelters around Louisiana. The clothing will be distributed in part by the Capital Area Family Justice Center, which serves family members affected by violence in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes.
Landry told Baton Rouge television station WAFB “My office and I are committed to breaking the silence on domestic violence and assisting the victims of this horrible crime. We are grateful for LuLaroe’s generosity, which will go a long way to supplying a basic need for domestic violence survivors.”
Since taking office Landry has focused on domestic violence issues and has put together several initiatives for outreach, training, and education throughout the state.
