Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we've all been cooped up for what seems like years, but actually it's just been a couple of weeks. And of course, all for a good reason. But even though the official start of summer is still a few weeks away, we could really use some time out in the fresh air for some family fun.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is extending an invitation to all Louisianans to fish for free the second weekend in June. Here in the Sportsman's Paradise, Free Fishing Weekend is an opportunity to fish to your heart's content without having an otherwise required license.

On June 13 & 14, anyone can try their luck at any of our state’s public waters. And remember, even if you don't have to have a license that weekend, all fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions will remain in effect.
If you would like to apply for a fishing license fill out this form, just in case you want to fish before or after the free weekend.

A really cool place to find out info about fishing and boating in Louisiana is at TakeMeFishing.org. You can check top fishing spots in the state, local fishing reports, and Louisiana fishing information. You can even check out where to hire a charter fishing vessel for recreational use. But more importantly, go out and have some fun on our beautiful Louisiana waterways.
