Man Dies In Oakdale Fire

OAKDALE--One person is dead after a house fire on 17th Street.

Firefighters responded to the home at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators say the firefighters found a man's body inside a bedroom. The victim's name has not been released pending an autopsy.

Investigators say the fire started in the living room. They believe a space heater may have set another item in the living room on fire. The exact cause remains under investigation.

According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, this is the 12th deadly fire in Louisiana in 2021.
