Have you been thinking about buying a horse? This is the perfect time to get one. For the fourth year in New Orleans, they will have the Mardi Gras horses that lead the parades. At least 20 horses are purchased to be featured in New Orleans Mardi Gras events. After the carnival season is over, the horses are left homeless. The Humane Society of Louisiana does everything they can each year to get them adopted and into loving homes. These Mardi Gras horses need to be adopted.

With adoption, you have to go through an application process and meet some requirements first. They’ll need to know what kind of property you have or if you’re renting space in a barn. You’ll need to have references from your veterinarian and farrier, as well as personal references which will help them get to know as much about you as they can.

If you are interested and would like to fill out an application, click here. Then email your application to mardigrashorses2017@gmail.com. You must include three references for them to process your application. If you don’t own a horse, include any other animals you own along with the vet reference for those animals. Any applications sent without references and phone numbers will not be processed.
