Morrow Man Arrested after Fatal Hunting Trip

41-year-old Derrick Deion Tanner of Morrow is behind bars after 27-year-old Ray Rideau Jr. was found dead on January 20 after going on a hunting trip.

Family or friends of Rideau told St. Landry Parish Sheriff's deputies that Rideau went hunting and had not returned home, as well as concerned phone calls or text messages.

Detectives say key evidence recovered at the scene - near a wooded area off of Carmons Road - and the public's cooperation led to an arrest warrant for Tanner. Tanner turned himself in, accompanied by his attorney, on Tuesday at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and refused to give detectives any statements.

Tanner has been booked on 1 count of 2nd Degree Murder.
