Officer Watches Drug Transaction On Camera

A Lafayette Police officer who is both a school resource officer and SWAT team member was watching surveillance cameras of the Simcoe area when he says he say a man commit a drug deal.

They say this man had a gun in his back pocket.

When they approached 31-year-old Jerrell Lee White, officer say he took off running.

Officers say a canine officer found the gun in a area of tall grass that surrounded the area around which the suspect was trying to escape.

White is facing several charges including possession and distribution of narcotics, resisting an officer and illegal carrying of weapons.
