Phase 2 Includes a Restriction on Dancing
The Governor is slowly getting Louisiana back to business after the coronavirus shutdown, and there have been growing pains along the way.
Phase 2 begins tomorrow, and people (especially business owners) are eager to get more people in the door to eat, drink, and spend money!
Of course, Phase 2 isn't a no-holds-barred phase, as there are still many restrictions put on the business owners and the public alike (which are part of the growing pains I mentioned earlier).
One of the restrictions still in place is something that I hadn't thought of: dancing.
Don't get me wrong, I knew about the social distancing still being in effect; it just never occurred to me that dancing would be prohibited. I mean, of course, it would, because you must be closer than 6 feet to dance. Right?
There it is, though, listed under "Occupant Capacity and Building Safety Rules" of the "Phase 2 - Restaurants, Cafes and Coffee Shops, Bars, Nightclubs, and Micro-Breweries" guidelines: Dancing, indoors or outdoors, is not authorized in this phase.
Now, correct me if I am wrong, but won't these people be sharing tables at events? From the same guidelines: Customers are required to be seated at tables and not congregating in open areas of the establishment.
So, we can sit at tables together, but we can't dance? What gives? Can't we responsibly remain socially distanced to do The Freeze? Does the Macarena require that we are closer than 6 feet apart? Weren't there police officers joining in on the Cupid Shuffle at a protest the other night?
I guess that if we want to dance during Phase 2, it'll have to be restricted to "Old Time Rock & Roll" in our briefs. For now, anyway.
