Rayne Man Arrested In Road Rage Incident
One man's alleged road rage is leading to what may be a long stay in behind bars.
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson says 22-year-old Michael Nugent of Rayne has been charged with two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder after an incident around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night just north of Rayne on Highway 35.
Rayne Police was called after shots were allegedly fired from Nugent at another vehicle, which led to a passenger in the victim's vehicle suffering non-life threatening injuries. Before the gunshots, authorities say Nugent had passed the victim's vehicle, then turned on a bright light on the rear of his vehicle, blinding the victim's. When the victim looked to pass the vehicle, Nugent then allegedly fired the shots.
Bond has been set for Nugent at $250,000.
