The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a wanted man after he crossed the fog line of Highway 90 in Bayou Vista.

The detective called for additional deputies.

When pulled over, 33-year-old Darnell Ayro Senior of Jeanerette gave the deputy a false name.

When a passenger in the SUV got out of the vehicle, the detective saw the driver's identification.

He was required to do this after his 2001 conviction in Iberia Parish for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile for performing sexual immoral acts under law.

While trying to detain Ayro, the suspect took off on foot. Deputies found him hiding in a nearby dumpster.

Ayro was booked on the outstanding warrant and the following charges:

  • Improper lane usage
  • No driver's license
  • Resisting an officer (with force or violence)
  • Resisting an officer (by giving false information)
