St. Landry Parish Man Arrested After Allegedly Beating Woman With Hammer

LEBEAU, La. (KPEL) -- A man from this small community is facing attempted second degree murder charges after police said he beat a woman in the head with a hammer.

The victim told St. Landry Parish deputies that the suspect, 31-year-old Adrian Ford of Lebeau, threatened several times to kill her while beating her in the head and tried to rape her.

He eventually called an ambulance and left the home, said Capt. Megan Vizena with the sheriff's office.

A warrant for Ford's arrest was issued last Wednesday, and he turned himself in to state police last Friday.

Ford now sits in the St. Landry Parish jail on charges of attempted second degree murder, sexual battery, and attempted aggravated rape.
