Louisiana Man Allegedly Rapes and Assaults Elderly Woman

(Jennings, Louisiana) - A Jennings man is behind bars after he allegedly assaulted and raped a woman.

KPLC reports that Christopher “Elmo” Istre, 39, assaulted a 79-year-old woman in a home on Merry Street, near La. 26,

The Chief of Police for Jennings told the Lake Charles news station that the man and the woman in this case knew each other, but did not elaborate on the extent of their relationship.

As officers began the search for Istre, they located him walking south on the highway near the Oil and Gas Park off I-10.

Istre was booked on charges of first-degree rape, sexual battery of the infirmed and second-degree sexual battery - rubbing/touching.

He is being held at the Jeff Davis Parish jail on a $450,000 bond. All parties are innocent until proven guilty.
