State Of La. Reopens Iberia & Vermilion Shellfish Areas

The Louisiana Department of Health closed down shellfish areas 26, 27, and 28 because of environmental concerns following the historic flooding. AP reports they were reopened Friday morning (August 26). By Thursday, conditions had returned to within parameters set by the National Shellfish Sanitation Program. State officials have notified the FDA, as well as local oyster fishermen.
