The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a traffic accident involving a train and a car that occurred Monday afternoon (Feb. 10).

According to officials, the collision happened around 12:57 p.m. in the 2300 block of SW Evangeline Thruway at an uncontrolled train crossing off of a service road. The train struck the car, pushing it into a ditch. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the driver of the car sustained minor injuries. The individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The train came to a stop following the incident, but traffic in the area continues to flow normally.

A video clip from Facebook user Jesse Boudoin shows the aftermath of the crash, including the damaged vehicle in the ditch.
