Trump: Covid Solution Coming “Long Before The End Of The Year”
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the nation, the President is setting his sights on bringing an end to the outbreak with help from the medical community.
During President Donald Trump's Independence Day remarks, he talked about where our country, and the world, stands on bringing a medical end to COVID-19. The President said:
"We are unleashing our nation’s scientific brilliance and will likely have a therapeutic and/or vaccine solution long before the end of the year."
Many onlookers, including the head of the FDA, believe that the President was solely talking about a vaccine. But the fact that the President included therapeutics in his statement should not be overlooked. Multiple therapeutics have come online in recent months that have shown promise in treating the virus. Most notably the drug Remdesivir has been a leader worldwide. Though other drugs and treatments have been making strides, including plasma infusion treatments from those who recovered from the virus and developed anti-bodies. As well as nitric oxide treatments, and many, many more.
What does this all mean? It means that even without a vaccine, the medical community may have an answer to the COVID pandemic. Which might be coming sooner than some of us might think, and maybe why the President heavily suggested that something could be on the way soon.
EndPoints News, and other reports, indicate that there's some movement under the surface in the drug community that something big could be on the way this week. One of those reports comes from NBC News, who last week said:
"Next week administration officials plan to promote a new study they say shows promising results on therapeutics, the officials said. They wouldn’t describe the study in any further detail because, they said, its disclosure would be “market-moving.”
A "market-moving" announcement likely comes with something more solid than the studies that have already received push back. Because right now, the market is in "boy who cried wolf" territory, meaning that any announcement would have to be substantial at this point.
So lets see what this week brings...because we could really use something big.
