Woman Who was Convicted of Killing Her Baby on Trial Again

A woman convicted this past December of second-degree murder for tossing her new born baby into Lake Pontchartrain two years ago will be tried again.  Ciara Craig faced a mandatory life prison term.  But, a judge Jr. granted a defense motion for a new trial, doing so, he said, in the interests of justice.  Craig testified at trial that she believed her daughter was dead after finding the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice and not showing any signs of life.
