Louisiana State Police officials report that a woman who was not wearing a seat belt ended up dying as the result of a crash on Louisiana Highway 349 Thursday night.

Charges against the driver are pending.

Louisiana State Police Spokesman Trooper Jesse LeGrange reports that 48-year-old Johnny Leblanc lost control of his vehicle, and 53-year Shally Leblance of Breaux Bridge died in the ensuing crash.

LeGrange says that Johnny Leblanc was taken to the hospital for moderate injuries after his vehicle hit an embankment and flipped over.

He was wearing a seat belt.

LeGrange says they do suspect impairment, and they are running routine toxicology tests.

Officials with State Police remind everyone that is in a vehicle in Louisiana must be wearing a seat belt. LeGrange adds it gives you the best chance of living after a devastating crash.
