Execution Date Set For Murderer/Rapist

The execution of Jason Reeves will take place on August 15th for the abduction, rape and murder of Mary Jean Thigpen, a four year-old Moss Bluff girl. State District Judge Mike Canaday signed the order for lethal injection.

November 21st, 2001 was when the girl was taken and brought to the woods where she was raped then stabbed 16 times before being put in a local graveyard two days later. Reeves was raped as a child and never received counseling.

In 2004, Reeves was found guilty of capital murder, even though he attempted appeal the order to the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. Both courts upheld the conviction.
