When July 1, 2019, begins, an automatic aid agreement will go into effect between the Scott Fire Department and the Lafayette Fire Department. This will provide help to the citizens of Scott as Scott FD will send one engine company and equipment from Lafayette FD automatically to "actual or suspended" structure fires and private alarms within Scott's city limits, according to our news partners at KATC.

Fire Chief Chad Sonnier says the agreement will not only allow for more manpower and better fire protection, but it will benefit his department in maintaining the current Class 3 fire insurance rating for the city, keeping insurance rates at a minimun.
