A Baldwin teenager was arrested yesterday for six counts of indecent behavior with juveniles.

According to Sheriff's spokeswoman Traci Landry, a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputy spotted the 16-year-old male while conducting a traffic stop on La. Highway 182 in Franklin yesterday. Knowing of the active warrants for the teen's involvement in a sexual abuse case, the deputy brought the teen to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, before he was released into a guardian's custody.

The investigation into the alleged misconduct began when the Sheriff's Office received three complaints of indecent behavior and molestation in early April. Forensic evidence was collected from a six-year-old boy and two six-year-old girls at the Hearts of Hope Children's Advocacy Center, where detectives learned the teen had inappropriately touched the victims on several occasions in March and April.

Three warrants, on six counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, were then obtained for the juvenile's arrest.
