MONROE, La. (AP) — Monroe police have arrested a suspect in the Jan. 18 shooting death of Quintarius Brown.

The News-Star reports 18-year-old Eddie Nelson, of Monroe, was booked with second-degree murder. He bond was set at $1 million.

Detectives reportedly confirmed that scientific evidence obtained during the forensic examination of Brown did not support initial reports that Brown shot himself.

Detectives re-interviewed persons of interest in the case, which led to further evidence in support of Nelson's arrest.

Nelson has been booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on Tuesday.

It was unclear whether Nelson has an attorney.
