Breaux Bridge Teen Drowns While Swimming With Friends

A 17-year-old from Breaux Bridge drowned while swimming with a group of friends near the Bayou Amy boat landing in Henderson. It happened just before Noon on Tuesday according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have identified the teen as Devon Batiste of Breaux Bridge. Witnesses say he showed signs of distress and then failed to resurface. That’s when 911 was called. His body was found shortly after rescuers arrived on the scene.
