A man wanted for cashing counterfeit payroll checks and who had as many as 41 warrants for his arrest has been taken into custody in Mississippi.

Major Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office says it all started back in January when Robert Eugene Shears the Second allegedly cashed two counterfeit FedEx payroll checks in Cecilia. Authorities say last night, Shears tried to cash another fake check in Mississippi. Responding officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit. Shears and his alleged accomplice Kimberly Tanner were both arrested. The case is currently being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
