Congress Street Crash Kills One in Lafayette
Lafayette Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the corner of Congress and Marie Antoinette yesterday afternoon about 4 pm. After arriving on the scene officers noted that two vehicles were involved and both drivers sustained significant injuries.
Both drivers were extricated from the crash scene and transported to local hospitals. One of the drivers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. That driver's identification has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The other driver was reported to be in stable condition.
Lafayette Police officials say that 75-year-old Clay Benton died as a result of this crash.
