LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — An agreement has been reached between a Louisiana library and the American Civil Liberties Union to allow Drag Queen Story Time at the library.

An agreement was reached Thursday between the Lafayette Public Library and the ACLU allowing anyone to reserve library meeting space for any constitutionally protected purpose.

Drag Queen Story Time features men dressed as women reading books to young children. It was initially scheduled Oct. 5 as a library-sponsored activity.

It was postponed because of security concerns and the library later said anyone reserving public rooms could not use them for anything related to Drag Queen Story Time.

A judge ruled against the ACLU's attempt to intervene in a lawsuit, but the civil rights organization and the library then reached the agreement to allow the event.
