EUNICE, La. (KPEL) -- A 26-year-old man is in the city jail following allegations that he shot at someone during a disturbance Monday.

Deputy Chief Varden Guillory says Jonas Vigers and were arguing when Vigers pulled out a pistol. The two men with whom he was arguing got into a truck and drove off at a high rate of speed. Guillory says the spinning tires flung mud at Vigers, prompting him to allegedly shoot at the two men as they drove away.

Officers at the scene recovered a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, Guillory says. The next morning, Guillory says police searched a home at which Vigers way staying, and they recovered .380 caliber ammunition. Guillory says the ammunition was the same type found in the pistol they had recovered.

Vigers was arrested on various gun charges and booked into the Eunice City Jail.

Guillory says officers located the driver of the truck, but he refused to cooperate with police and insisted he was not shot at, nor was he involved in any type of argument with Vigers.
