Eunice Passenger Dies After Car Runs Off The Road

20-year-old Keldon Lomas of Eunice is dead following a single vehicle crash Sunday night on LA Hwy 13 near Percy McGee Road in Evangeline Parish. He was the passenger and was not wearing a seat belt.

La. State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen says 37-year-old Richard Lomas - the driver - lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway, which caused the car to overturn several times. Richard Lomas, while unrestrained, suffered only minor injuries.

Impairment is suspected as troopers await a toxicology sample obtained from Richard Lomas.

Richard Lomas has been booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on the following charges:

• Vehicular Homicide
• Careless Operation
• No Seat Belt
• Driving Under Suspension
• Open Container

The crash remains under investigation.
