A man is dead today after dying from a gun shot wound that he received when he was getting out of a car.

Eunice Chief of Police Randy Fontenot says witnesses on the scene could only describe the car where the shot came from, as dark in color.

The person in that car then took after after firing the shot.

The shooting happened about a quarter before 2 o'clock this morning in the 300 block of S. Second Street.

Fontenot says that they learned about the shooting from medical personnel at Mercy Regional Medical Center in their town.

The Chief says Oshae Doffney of Elton was only 23-years-old.

If you can give information about this case, you are asked to call the Eunice Police Department at 337-457-2626.

Doffney was shot as he was dropping his friend off at this friend's home.
