FBI May Investigate New Iberia Alleged Brutality

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal has requested that the FBI investigate an alleged brutality charge against at least one unidentified stemming from an incident at the Sugar Cane Festival in September.

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department spokeman Ryan Turner told the Daily Advertiser that the Bureau has been asked to determine "any possible criminal matters involving the incident."

The deputy was terminated when video surfaced of him allegedly hitting a man who was handcuffed as the man sat on the ground, leaning against a police cruiser.

Law enforcement officials were attempting to clear the streets of festival goers at the time of the incident.
