Fight Leads To Shooting In Acadia Parish
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson says that an argument between families Saturday escalated, and one of the family members fired shots.
At around 10:30 on Saturday night, Acadia Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to the 8100 block of White Oak Highway after there were reports of shots fired.
Police have arrested 55-year-old James Matte of Branch after they say he when to get a firearm and shot one person that was there.
There was self-defense involved as the family member returned fire. Unfortunately, both the victim and the suspect ended up being shot in the leg.
Matte was arrested for two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, and they booked him into the Acadia Parish jail.
