Flu Widespread In Louisiana
The flu has hit Louisiana hard this season. The CDC reports, the Bayou state is among 30 with widespread flu outbreaks. The B/Victoria strain is currently most common. This is unusual because it’s only December.
That particular strain doesn’t usually appear until later in the season. More than 3 1/2 million cases have been reported so far this season. 32,000 people have had to be hospitalized. 1900 have died, including 19 children. Public health officials are strongly recommending immunization. I’m glad I got my flu shot.
