EUNICE, La. (KPEL) -- A Franklin man was arrested in Lafayette and transferred to Acadia Parish after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend for the second time.

Deputy Chief Varden Guillory with the Eunice Police Department said officers responded in late October to the Bengal Village Apartment Complex on the campus of LSU-E after receiving reports the 19-year-old girl had been assaulted.

Zederick Gibson allegedly punched her in the mouth, causing her to lose some of her teeth. A warrant for his arrest was issued at that time, Guillory said.

In September, Guillory also allegedly punched the same girl in the face, knocking her to the ground outside the same residential complex.

Gibson destroyed her cell phone and poured the remainder of his alcoholic beverage on her before leaving the scene, Guillory said.

Gibson was arrested Friday and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center before being transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail, Guillory said. Gibson was then transferred to the Eunice City Jail Monday, Guillory said.

Gibson has been charged with second degree battery, simple battery, and criminal damage to property.
