Fun Things to do in Louisiana This Weekend
As we are getting closer and closer to Fat Tuesday, it's very apparent that wherever you are in Louisiana, Mardi Gras events are going to be different this year. Most of the parades have been cancelled, but citizens are still managing to stay in the spirit of the season in a variety of ways. We're still sharing king cakes, we're still decorating our offices and homes, and we still love our most unique holiday.
Our wonderful Louisiana Department of Tourism always has great resources for whatever it is you want to experience in our state, and they have a fun list of things going on this weekend. I've added in a few of my own favorites as well, so get out and enjoy yourself this weekend, fellow Louisianians!
- Krewe des Canailles, Lafayette, Friday, February 5, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Over 50 homes and businesses around the city will be decorated festively for the public. You can view from your porch, your bike, or in your car. A map is included, and this is truly a way for you to show your Lafayette Mardi Gras pride!
- Krewe of House Floats, New Orleans area, through February 16th. This has really turned into the newest Mardi Gras tradition in the Big Easy, and really worth a trip to see the spectacular artistry of these homes. Check out the map if you want to go.
- Mardi Gras Scavenger Hunt, St Mary Parish, through Fat Tuesday. Explore the Cajun Coast, with over 400 buildings on the National Historic Register, and gather beads and prizes with your team of up to 8 people for the festive game.
- Reverse Mardi Gras Parade, Broussard, Saturday, February 6th 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Sponsored by Rise Chiropractic in the Broussard Commons. Bring your Mardi Gras beads to throw for a benefit for the wonderful vocational services at LARC
