Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 10 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette for Kaliste Saloom Jr. He was a visionary for Lafayette and Acadiana.

He was also a huge supporter of UL Lafayette.

The 99-year-old former Lafayette City judge died this past weekend following a short illness.

Visitation will be Friday at Martin and Castille's downtown Lafayette location which is on St. Landry Street.

Nancy Fawcett is hoping that people in Lafayette along the Kaliste Saloom corridor, especially at its intersection with Ambassador Caffery will honor the longtime civic leader this Friday and Saturday with a show of support.

It is being suggested that items like signs, ribbons, bows, flowers, streamers, balloons, UL flags and the American flag be displayed up and down that corridor this Friday and Saturday as a way to honor the World War II veteran who gave so much to his family, friends and the community.

She also suggests wearing red on Friday, just as Saloom would have done to show his support for UL Lafayette.
